The Recycled Content bill (S2515/A4676) will create demand for recyclable materials here in America by requiring their use in certain products. The bill, once fully implemented, would require common products such as beverage bottles, hard plastic containers, and trash can bags to be made with 50% post-consumer recycled content. It starts to solve our waste management problem which was brought to a head when countries such as China and India stopped accepting American recyclable materials. The bill supports the end of single use plastics, most of which are made from the products of fracking, by implementing a truly reusable system. So, it’s a win-win for ending plastic pollution and fracking.
